ADVANCED Disaster Life Support® (ADLS®)

CURRICULUM

 

As an advanced practicum of the principles introduced in Basic Disaster Life Support®, the two-day ADLS® includes lectures on MASS Triage™, community and hospital disaster planning; media and communications during disasters, and mass fatality management. The two day course  includes small group interactive sessions and "hands on" training, including:

  • MASS Triage™ - practice of the disaster paradigm with an emphasis on patient triage.

  • PPE and Decontamination - the use of personal protective equipment and decontamination technique. S

  • Disaster Skills - medical disaster management including information on the Stategic National Stockpile and proper Mark-I kit use.

  • Human Patient Simulator - reinforces the detection and proper treatment of conditions using high fidelity simulators that create a more realistic experience than normal manikins allow.

BDLS® certified individuals are eligible to take the ADLS® course. To maintain ADLS®certification, renewal training is required every three years

CONTINUING EDUCATION

The Advanced Disaster Life Support®  Course has been approved for 14.5 AMA PRA Category 1 credits.

The American Medical Association is accredited by the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education to provide continuing medical education for physicians.
